Chain locker and lazarette
Chain locker and lazarette
First interior items in wood
There is quite a bit of work left until we can start the interior of the boat but we decided to try to completely finish the anchor chain locker and the lazarette early on just for the satisfaction of having some small sections that are completely finished. The chain locker is built in wood to prevent chafe of the anchor chain against the hull plating to create rust and noise. The wood slats are made in Doussie and can be lifted out every so often so that the inside of the hull and bilge can be inspected and painted.

There are sail bins made out of wood in the lazarette also. The hydraulic steering rams and power packs are yet to be installed and the dry exhaust system from the three gas water separators (main engine and the two generators) is almost completed in the lazarette. The blue butterfly valves have 24VDC closing mechanisms (painted yellow) which are closed when the engines are not running to prevent flooding of the engines when we are sailing fast with the water all he way up to the transom cap rail. The bilge redundant pumps are also installed with their respective high water alarms.
